If you're thinking about sprucing up your garden and you've got a furry friend to consider, there are a few things you'll want to keep in mind to keep them safe and happy outdoors.

First off, when it comes to plants, flowers, and veggies, some can be harmful to dogs if they nibble on them. To avoid any mishaps, think about using wildlife fencing, netting, or sticking to container gardening. These tricks not only protect your plants but also ensure your dog stays out of trouble, saving you from any unplanned trips to the vet.

Using raised beds or pots is a smart move for planting. They keep plants up high where dogs can't easily reach, so you won't have to worry about them munching on bulbs or berries before you do. Adding some netting or a small fence around these areas adds an extra layer of security.

Speaking of netting, the kind used to keep deer out of gardens works well to keep dogs away from your plants too. Just drape it over some poles and secure it with staples—it's simple and effective.

Now, if you're thinking about growing herbs, there are some great options that are actually good for dogs, like cleavers, dandelion, mint, rosemary, and basil. These herbs can have health benefits for your pup when enjoyed in moderation.

But not all plants are dog-friendly. Some common ones like apple trees, azaleas, and daffodils can be toxic if ingested by pets. So, it's important to know what's in your garden and keep an eye on what your dog might be sniffing around.

Lastly, watch out for fertilizers and mulches that can upset your dog's stomach if they decide to sample them. Cocoa mulch, chicken manure, and fish emulsion are a few examples to be cautious of.

By taking these steps and choosing your plants wisely, you'll create a garden paradise that's safe and enjoyable for both you and your furry companion.
